🗺️ XML Sitemap Generator

Generate XML sitemaps for search engines. Add URLs with priority, change frequency, and last modified — all in your browser, no upload, instant results.

About the XML Sitemap Generator

This XML sitemap generator runs entirely in your browser. Add one row per URL, set priority, change frequency, and last modified date, and the tool produces a valid sitemap.xml you can paste into a file at the root of your site. Nothing is uploaded — all generation happens locally with JavaScript on your device.

What is an XML sitemap?

An XML sitemap is a file that lists the URLs on your site that you want search engines like Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo to crawl and index. It is published at https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml and follows the sitemaps.org protocol.

Key tags

  • <urlset> — The root element that wraps every <url> entry and declares the namespace.
  • <url> — A single URL record on your site.
  • <loc> — The absolute URL of the page. Must start with http:// or https://.
  • <lastmod> — The date the URL was last modified, in YYYY-MM-DD format.
  • <changefreq> — How often the page typically changes: always, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or never.
  • <priority> — A value from 0.0 to 1.0 indicating the URL's importance relative to other URLs on your site.

How to use the generator

  1. Click Add URL for each page you want to include.
  2. Fill in the URL, priority (0.0–1.0), change frequency, and last modified date.
  3. Click Generate then Copy, and paste the result into a file named sitemap.xml at the root of your site.
  4. Optionally reference the sitemap from your robots.txt with a Sitemap: line.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool upload my data? No. Everything happens locally in your browser. Your URLs never leave your device.

Is a sitemap required for SEO? Not always — search engines can discover pages by crawling. But a sitemap helps with large sites, new sites with few backlinks, or sites with isolated pages.

How many URLs can one sitemap contain? A single sitemap file may list up to 50,000 URLs and be no larger than 50 MB. For larger sites, split into multiple sitemaps and reference them from a sitemap index file.

Do priority and changefreq actually matter? They are hints, not commands. Search engines may use them as signals but typically rely more on their own crawl heuristics.
